Candida albicans (CA) and Gardnerella vaginalis (GV) are the common causative agents of women vaginitis, presenting in around 70% of cases. Clinically, both infections may be asymptomatic or develop symptoms which are similar to those of other types of vaginal infections. Nevertheless, the medication crucially depends on the type of infection.
In addition, GV is the most common causative agent of bacterial vaginosis (BV). Women with BV are at increased risk for the acquisition of some STDs (e.g., HIV, N. gonorrhoeae, C. trachomatis, and HSV-2).
Our GenoQuestTM CA/GV qPCR Assay provides a simple, rapid and highly sensitive method to detect and differentiate CA and GV in less than 2 hours.
