Announcement of the Optimization of GenoQuest CA/GV qPCR Assay on the geneLEAD VIII

Following the announcement of the collaboration between DiagCor Life Science Ltd. (DiagCor) with Precision System Science Co., Ltd. (PSS), and successful optimization and implementation of the GenoQuest JAK2 qPCR Assay on the geneLEAD VIII, the All-in-One, fully automated Sample-to-Result system, we are pleased to add the GenoQuest CA/GV qPCR Assay to the list of optimized tests.

Candida albicans (CA) and Gardnerella vaginalis (GV) are the common causative agents of vaginitis, presenting in around 70% of cases. Clinically, both infections may be asymptomatic or develop symptoms which are similar to those of other types of vaginal infections. Nevertheless, the medication crucially depends on the type of infection. In addition, GV is the most common causative agent of bacterial vaginosis (BV), which is associated with increased risk for the acquisition of some STDs (e.g., HIV, N. gonorrhoeae, C. trachomatis, and HSV-2). Vaginal candidiasis may be diagnosed by examination under a microscope or fungal culture. However, the microbial culture and Cervical Pap test for GV diagnosis are not suggested because of their low sensitivity and specificity. The GenoQuest CA/GV qPCR Assay provides a simple, rapid and highly sensitive method to detect and differentiate CA and GV in less than 2 hours. Our new application note details an automated workflow for this assay on the geneLEAD VIII system, including its clinical performance.
